About the Artist
China Adams is a conceptual artist addressing consumerism, accumulation and reuse, often from a personal perspective. Her photographic and sculptural pieces incorporate imagery and materials from her daily life (clothing, dishes, dental floss, meat, junk mail). Framed, notarized documents included in the work, present her artistic intention in a legal idiom, playing with notions of legitimization and offering her art-making process as contract and performance.
Adams has lived in Los Angeles for over twenty years. She earned a BFA from UCLA and an MFA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has been featured in exhibitions around the world, including several solo shows at Ace Gallery, Los Angeles and Steve Turner Contemporary, Los Angeles.
