About the Artist
Gisela Colon known for her unique fabrication method of blow molding and layering acrylic materials to produce mutable objects that appear to emanate light and color from within. She is one of the few female artists of the California Light & Space movement. Colon began her career as a painter in 2005 and transitioned to sculpture in 2012 as she began to focus on perceptual phenomena.
Colon’s work was the subject of a national museum exhibition tour in the United States that ran from September 2015 through March 2016. She has also been in exhibition at many US and European museums and galleries including Grand Rapids Art Museum (September 2016), the Palmer Museum of Art, the Kunstmuseum Wilhelm-Morgner Haus, and others.
