About the Artist关于艺术家

Jeff Colson’s sculptures show everyday things: the contents of a storage unit, a make-shift wooden fence, piles of papers, boxes draped in fabric. Colson works in a meticulous trompe l’oeil technique using fiberglass, wood and paint to render his subjects, whose ordinary nature is elevated in formally deliberate configurations. Collectively the works offer a humorous take on accumulation and an uncanny mundane.

Colson has been included in numerous collections in the United States, Europe, and Mexico. He was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship in 2012 and a City of Los Angeles Fellowship in 2015.
