About the Artist关于艺术家

Michael Heizer is one of the preeminent sculptors associated with Land Art. A California native, Heizer studied at the San Francisco Art Institute from 1963-64, then moved to New York for a few years before heading, in 1967, to Nevada to pursue his ideas regarding earth as a medium for art. His works include Double Negative, 1969-1970, two trenches cut into the Mormon Mesa near Overton, Nevada; and City, a life-long project of enormous scale, begun in 1972 and ongoing today. His Levitated Mass, 2012, can be experienced at the North Lawn of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
